The Chemical and Products Database (CPDat) is a collection of information about how thousands of chemicals are used in commerce. This information is sourced from publicly available documents; these data are subjected to initial and ongoing curation and quality assurance processes to ensure that information obtained from the public documents is correctly represented. CPDat contains information on the chemical ingredients of thousands of consumer, industrial, and occupational products (harmonized to standard product categories); the functional use of chemicals (harmonized to function categories based on the intergovernmental Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development); and the broad use of thousands of chemicals (harmonized to general use index terms). CPDat can be explored via the ChemExpo Knowledgebase (https://comptox.epa.gov/chemexpo), downloaded in bulk from Figshare, or accessed via the Computational Toxicology and Exposure (CTX) APIs (https://www.epa.gov/comptox-tools/computational-toxicology-and-exposure-apis). Some summary data are available in the CompTox Chemicals Dashboard (https://comptox.epa.gov/dashboard). For more details about CPDat see Dionisio et al. 2018 (https://www.nature.com/articles/sdata2018125) and Handa et al. submitted. Detailed descriptions of the information contained within CPDat can be found in the glossary of ChemExpo’s User Guide (https://comptox.epa.gov/chemexpo/static/user_guide/glossary.html).
